"Salvato dalla Sabbia" (Saved by the Sand) is much more than a simple documentary on the Paris-Dakar: it is a deep and touching exploration of the human experience, a true rite of passage and a metaphor for life. The film reveals the history of the Dakar as never told before, turning an extreme competition into an existential journey that resonates far beyond the dunes of the desert.

The story is guided by Tiziano Internò, rally rider and creator of the Rally POV channel, executive producer and narrator, who takes the viewer on an odyssey steeped in myth, memory and the raw reality of the desert. The story opens on a deep darkness: the memory of a childhood marked by a traumatic event that took Tiziano's sight at the age of seven, because of the laceration of his corneas.

In that sudden despair a stubborn spark lit up: the burning desire to ride again his little minicross bike, just received for his birthday. Although the doctors had advised his mother to resign herself, a small but powerful idea had already taken root in Tiziano: one day he would ride the dunes, just like in the photographs hanging in his father's garage. In that darkness, the only glimmer was the roar of a motorcycle in the desert, the legendary tales of the Dakar and the mythical figure of Thierry Sabine.

From this crucial point, the documentary sets out on a journey across the three eras of the race, four continents and dozens of extraordinary witnesses.
